Prof. Hierner has been involved in the treatment of injured children for 25 years, e.g. by Friedensdorf International.

Friedensdorf International was founded in 1967. The aid projects primarily serve to provide medical and humanitarian care in war and crisis zones. For individual cases, children are brought to Germany and treated free of charge in one of the numerous cooperating European hospitals. The main countries of operation today are Angola and Afghanistan.
