Abdomen/Waist/ Lower Back/Buttocks (Lower Body)

How can the deformity after massive weight loss in the Abdomen and lower back be treated?

Men and women both complain about excess fat in the lower abdomen. Reconstructive surgeries such as abdominoplasty or lower body lift in Dubai surgeries can remove skin and fat from the belly button to the pubic area by making an incision below the bikini line.

Advances in surgical techniques and safety precautions have enabled more men and women to achieve tighter, more shapely midsections.

To restore the body shape in the lower body area, the following areas must always be considered and corrected if necessary:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Lower Back
  • Buttock

If there is a significant excess of soft tissue after the fat mass has been reduced through weight loss, the excess skin can be removed with a lower body lift in Dubai.

FAQ's

A Lower Body Lift combines an abdominoplasty (Tummy tuck) with a lateral thigh lift and a buttock lift. It is also known as “360° Abdominoplasty” or as a “Belt Lipectomy”.

A good candidate for a lower body lift would be someone who has a significant amount of loose or sagging body tissue that wishes to look and feel their best in their own skin. It is also in the candidate’s best interest to be committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and exercise, being a non-smoker, and without severe medical conditions that could hinder the recovery process. The more prepared the patient is mentally as well as physically is also important.

The decision to have plastic surgery is extremely personal, and you’ll have to decide if the benefits will achieve your goals and if the risks and potential complications of tummy tuck surgery are acceptable. You will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure and any risks. Surgical risks for all body contouring procedures after massive weight loss in general and Tummy tuck in particular include:

  • Bleeding
  • Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
  • Fatty tissue found deep in the skin might die (fat necrosis)
  • Fluid accumulation (seroma)
  • Infection
  • Numbness or other changes in skin sensation
  • Persistent pain
  • Poor wound healing
  • Asymmetry
  • Possibility of revisional surgery
  • Recurrent looseness of skin
  • Skin discoloration and/or prolonged swelling
  • Skin loss
  • Suboptimal aesthetic result
  • Unfavorable scarring

These risks and others will be fully discussed prior to your consent. It’s important that you address all your questions directly with your plastic surgeon.

Many patients chose to remain in the hospital for 2 to 3 days following their body lift surgery, giving nurses and doctors the chance to monitor their recovery and incision sites. However, an outpatient plan for home recovery may be an option for those patients that would prefer to return home immediately following their surgery. The plastic surgeon will wrap the surgical site in bandages and compression garments following the procedure. You shall receive instructions on caring for the incision area and any medications needed to aid the recovery process. There may be drains placed at the incision sites to help collect fluid. Again, detailed instructions will be given on how to care for those as well. Pain, soreness, swelling, and bruising at the incision sites are all expected side effects following the procedure. Medication may be prescribed to help manage the pain. Usually patient is mobilized on the  next day, first shouwer is encourraged the next day, pool after complete wound healing (10 – 14 days),  Compression garment should be worn day and night  for 6 weeks.
